WELCOME TO THE ASTON-CUM-AUGHTON PARISH COUNCIL WEBSITE.

The Parish of Aston-cum-Aughton comprises the settlements of Aston, Aughton and Swallownest along with the hamlets of Fence and Hardwick. Aston and Aughton are the oldest settlements in the Parish. The Parish is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham and lies adjacent to Junction 31 of the M1 Motorway.

The inaugural meeting of the Parish Council took place in the Lodge Lane School on Monday 31 December 1894.

MEETINGS - The Parish Council meets monthly (except August) on the second Tuesday of each month. Click on meetings module in the menu to find precise details of meetings including information of meetings of the various committees.

MEMBERS - The Parish Council is a democratically elected body with elections every 4 years. It is made up of 15 members representing 3 Wards, Aston-cum-Aughton North, South and West the current members being:-

NORTH WARD

Jim Richardson - Labour Party
James Sharman - Labour Party
Gerald Smith - Labour Party
Pat Wade (Chairperson) - Labour Party

SOUTH WARD

David Gee - Christian Democrat
Hilda Jack - Labour Party

WEST WARD

Six other employees assist with the administration, general operation and maintenance of Parish Council service provision including the Parish Hall.
